Dhamma Tracks
‘Include it all’ means what it says. It has at times felt naively optimistic. But it’s an aspiration; perhaps better expressed as ‘include what your mindfulness can manage’. This meditation instruction is to spread awareness over the whole body, when physical pain, emotion and blocked energy arise that cause a restriction. These are phenomena that one could call one’s own, or one’s kammic inheritance. In meditation practice the skill is to locate the stuck place, then without losing awareness of that, to widen the loop of mindfulness into a broad focus on the whole embodied state. When this process comes to rest it accesses the response of Dhamma.

Recorded Teachings
Guided Meditation-Simple Awareness (49:46) Cittaviveka BuddhistMonastery, UK; 9 Oct 2011
Recollecting the Buddha’s awakening, we also sit, firmly, simply. When the forces of thought and feeling come, we sit peacefully, refusing to fight, run away or get involved. Letting it all move through, where is the stillness? Clarity is the mark of awakened ones, knowing exactly what is arising – naming it, sensing it.
Four keys to a meaningful life (43:52) Cittaviveka Buddhist Monastery, UK; 30 Dec 2022
Four standard themes for reflection that turn the mind inwards towards Dhamma.
